The Crack in the Wall

Reading Time: 2 minutes

In the bustling village of Techtonia, a mighty Wall stood between the villagers and the Shadow Beasts that prowled the wild lands. The Wall wasn’t just a barrier; it was a complex defense. The Flamekeepers maintained its blazing fire defenses, the Stonemasons reinforced its stone structure, and the Watchers patrolled its perimeter, searching for weaknesses.

One crisp morning, a sharp-eyed Watcher named Sera noticed a crack in the Wall. It wasn’t large, but it was enough for a creeping Shadow Beast to slip through. Alarmed, Sera sounded the village warning bell and rushed to the Flamekeepers’ hall. “Flamekeepers!” she cried. “A crack has formed in the Wall, and beasts are slipping through!”

The Chief Flamekeeper, Ignis, glanced up from the roaring hearths.
“A crack in the Wall? That’s not our duty,” he said dismissively. “We maintain the fires, not the stones. This is a task for the Stonemasons.”
“But someone needs to tell them!” Sera insisted.
“If it’s their job, they’ll figure it out eventually,” Ignis replied, turning back to the flames.

Frustrated, Sera returned to her post, hoping the problem would resolve itself.
But days passed, and the crack widened. More Shadow Beasts slipped through, trampling fields and raiding storehouses. Villagers whispered about the growing danger, but no one alerted the Stonemasons.

Finally, a farmer discovered the crack and ran to the Stonemasons. Their leader, Toren, inspected the breach and shook his head.
“Why didn’t anyone tell us about this sooner?” he muttered, rallying his team to repair the damage. But by then, the beasts had already caused chaos. Crops were ruined, homes were damaged, and the villagers demanded answers.

At an emergency council meeting, the guild leaders turned on each other.
The Flamekeepers said: “We were told, but it wasn’t our job.”
The Watchers said: “We raised the alarm, but no one listened.”
The Stonemasons said: “We would’ve fixed it, but no one informed us.”

The council leader, Lyra, stood and addressed the crowd:
“A crack in the Wall is a problem for all. Responsibility cannot be passed like a hot coal. If we do not act as one, we will fail as many.”

The villagers agreed. From that day forward, they created a new Messenger Guild to ensure critical warnings were delivered directly to the right hands. No longer would problems be ignored or passed along. With their new system in place, the Wall stood strong, and the village of Techtonia thrived.

Moral:
A problem ignored becomes everyone’s problem. Responsibility must be shared, not avoided.
